January Speaker Meeting

On Thursday 5th January – Alan Stone gave an interesting and lively presentation on the tradition of Wassailing and Cider in Somerset. At a Wassail there is singing, dancing and a toast to the Apple tree, generally thanking the tree and encouraging a good harvest in the coming year. The event has seen a resurgence since the early 2000’s but can be traced back to ancient times and customs.
